Based on a 2013 survey on VietNamNet, with the participation of more than 3,000 readers, showed that the majority of people, at 80%, still supported eating dog meat. From the statistic, it can be extrapolated that Vietnam is one of the key dog and cat meat markets in the world.

This act is heavily frowned upon and has created an outrage within our society. Nevertheless, it is still happening! Hasn't the government done anything?

According to a Vietnamese article written in 2015 (Source), they did pass a bill relating to the issue, yet ineffectively. The reason is perhaps because the government hasn't enforced the laws enough, while the barbarous thieves are becoming increasingly mischievous in every move.

When can we escape from the fear of our beloved friends being captured, sold into meat trade and then cruelly slaughtered for human consumption? My own answer:

BAN COMPLETELY THE CONSUMPTION OF DOG AND CAT MEAT

AND SENTENCE THOSE REFUSING TO ABIDE BY THE LAWS

You know what they say, by hook or by crook!
